PSI is always looking to Transform for fresh ideas to raise the profile of their SMEs and amplify key messages. Drawing on the podcast production and messaging development expertise in the Transform team, we pitched a podcast series as a great way to reach new audiences and build PSI’s authority and reputation in the market.

The brief

Our sister company Transform Comms has worked with testing provider PSI since 2019. The partnership grew from an initial brief for thought leadership to a full multi-channel content marketing programme. Over the years, we’ve conducted interviews and workshops with talented PSI Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from across the business, as well as PSI client case studies. These conversations consistently uncover a wealth of in-depth knowledge and experience, as well as a rich source of fascinating stories and anecdotes.

PSI is always looking to Transform for fresh ideas to raise the profile of their SMEs in the business, amplify key messages on trending topics, and reach new markets. From creative long form content, talking heads videos, and test taker animations, to innovative infographics and media pitches — we don’t like to disappoint. What next, we wondered?

The solution

Drawing on the podcast production and messaging development expertise in the Transform team, we pitched a podcast series as a great way to reach new audiences and build PSI’s authority and reputation in the market. The PSI team loved the idea!

Our first challenge: what to call the podcast? After a few iterations (‘The Proctor Will See You Now’ a particular favourite), ‘Tried and Tested’ won through, achieving a perfect balance of word play and brand tone of voice. We worked with the PSI design team to create visual branding and graphics for podcast promotion.

The first episode in the podcast series centred on telling the stories of two key people in the business. Both have extensive experience in the industry, so we developed talking points to guide the narrative with personal anecdotes and insights that would be helpful to listeners. The best podcasts are like listening in on a fascinating conversation, so our brief encouraged an informal approach that wasn’t overly promotional.

The results

Following technical setup and checks, and thorough briefing of host and guests, we record and edit every podcast for high-quality audio and video. This includes reels for social media and copy for promotion on popular podcast platforms.

After five episodes, the audience for the podcast is steadily growing. Episodes on hot topics in the industry, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) draw in new listeners and subscribers with each release. PSI receive consistently positive feedback from industry colleagues and potential guests keen to get involved. The podcast is also a valuable tool for internal engagement with a wide variety of PSI SMEs, as well as building relationships with large and often prestigious PSI clients.
